Berakhot 8

I have witnessed the decline of a parent who had Alzheimer’s Disease and forgot almost everything he had once known. He was a very wise soul who in the end of his life was here but not here. I am very moved by the passage from today’s reading that acknlowledges the decline of our elders: “And be careful to continue to respect an elder who has forgotten his Torah knowledge due to circumstances beyond his control.”
