Berakhot 3

What I found most relevant in today’s reading is the fact that you can say a short prayer on the road. I am translating this from my secular perspective to mean you can pray anywhere. Am I oversimplifying the reading? Was this a time when Jerusalem was in ruins and temples desecrated and as a result, is there a message greater than the obvious one about praying where evil demons may hover in destroyed buildings? (And also, I learned that King David did not get a lot of sleep.)
