Berakhot 4

Today’s reading discusses putting a fence around the night so that the Shema will be recited and there is no slippage. But it is still OK to say the evening Shema until dawn. Also interesting that Moses used the phrase “like midnight” instead of midnight when he was referring to time, in order to not be called a liar if the time-keeping was inaccurate. I sometimes get tripped up on the meaning of my words. This serves as a reminder that it is important to be certain of what you say and use your words carefully.
